About this healthcare free zone community
Dubai Healthcare City is a healthcare free zone in Dubai. Dubai legislation records that it was established as a free zone under Resolution No. (9) of 2003. Law No. (9) of 2011 established the Dubai Healthcare City Authority as a public corporation to manage it, and Law No. (16) of 2024, which supersedes the 2011 law, provides that the Authority supervises the free zone. The Authority describes itself as an independent regulator of the Dubai Healthcare City Free Zone. The objectives set out in the 2024 law include supporting Dubai's position as an international medical and healthcare hub and encouraging medical education and specialised medical research centres. The Authority describes the city as an initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum with two phases. Phase 1, in Oud Metha, is dedicated to healthcare and medical education. Phase 2, in Al Jadaf, is focused on wellness. The Authority lists pharmacies, retail, food and beverage and personal care as part of the community service infrastructure, and says its community services include landscaping, street lighting, cleaning, waste management and security. A Dubai Metro Green Line station named Dubai Healthcare City appears on the RTA station map, and RTA bus route 6 runs between Oud Metha metro station and Dubai Healthcare City, both as retrieved on 2026-09-21.
