About this mixed-use island community
Bluewaters Island is a man-made, mixed-use island off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai, developed by Meraas Holding. Gulf News reported on 13 February 2013 that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had approved the project. Khaleej Times reported on 13 November 2018 that the island was open to the public. Meraas describes the island as situated next to Jumeirah Beach Residence, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina. A Dubai Media Office release of January 2025 describes Meraas as a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate. Housing on the island is made up of apartments, penthouses and townhouses, which Meraas lists under Bluewaters Residences. Khaleej Times put the total at 698 apartments, four penthouses and 17 townhouses, and The National reported in June 2021 that apartments run from one to four bedrooms. Khaleej Times described courtyards, pedestrian spaces and walkways across the island. The National reported that residents share a swimming pool and a community gym, that the residential towers have landscaped gardens, basketball courts and children's play areas, and that the island has a mosque. The RTA station map lists no Dubai Metro station or Dubai Tram stop on Bluewaters Island, and the RTA runs metro feeder bus F57 between Bluewaters Island and National Paints, which is a Red Line station.
