About this mixed-use gated community
District One is a district of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City in Dubai. Dubai Holding Community Management, which manages it, describes it as a mixed-use gated community that forms a central part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City, and runs a community engagement centre there. In May 2013, Khaleej Times reported that Meydan Group and Sobha Group had announced a joint venture to develop the community, split equally between the two partners. In February 2016, The National described Meydan Sobha as the joint venture behind District One. The community manager says District One is spread across 1,100 acres and centred around a lagoon, with 627 villas, 38 townhouses and 1,750 apartments, and parks, lawns, green lanes, recreational parks and a landscaped walkway on over 600 acres of open space. In May 2015, Khaleej Times reported three villa styles, Modern Arabic, Mediterranean and Contemporary, with four to eight bedrooms. In September 2017, The National reported that phases one and two had seen the completion of villas and mansions. The same article said the development brings together a lagoon, beaches, a boardwalk and parklands, and is home to a cycle track. The community manager lists shared facilities including a dog park, football pitches, kids' play areas, a cycling track, padel courts, a jogging track, EV charging stations, tennis courts, swimming pools, basketball courts, barbecue stations, gymnasiums and recycling stations.
